Navalsig Fashion designer Mpho Monyake never imagined herself as a fashion designer. As a teen and an athlete she thought she would pursue a career in Sports Management.
But after taking a gap year after matric, she fell in love with fashion and then studied at the Bloemfontein Fashion Academy,.
Matric farewell dresses, suits, wedding attire and traditional attire are some of the high demand items that she designs.
Mpho emphasized that what she loves about being a fashion designer is the ability to be unique, and creative and play around with ideas, while also giving the clients what they want.

Being a designer has its challenges like dealing with dissatisfied clients, clients who change designs from what they initially wanted and difficult clients. However, Mpho explained that she has a way of dealing with difficult clients.
Monyake employs two people to assist her in her business. She charges between R1,500 and R3,000 for her work and sells her work under the brand name of Mpho Monyaki Classic Couture.
