A Fathers and Sons Seminar was successfully held at Lekgarietse Secondary School in the Lejweleputswa District on Saturday, 18 April. This first-of-its-kind event brought together fathers, sons, and key stakeholders under one roof, centered around the theme “Together we shape the next generation.”
In total, 110 attendees participated, including members of the community, with a strong focus on young boys from Lebogang and Lekgarietse Secondary Schools. The seminar aimed to strengthen family bonds, promote positive masculinity, and provide guidance on social, personal, and career development.
The program began with an opening and purpose delivered by Portia Menyatso from the Menyatso Foundation, who started the day with a prayer, setting a strong tone for empowerment and transformation.
Themba Lecage from Sebenza Engineering led a session on identity and motivation, encouraging the young boys to define their purpose and remain resilient in the face of challenges.

Gosiame, a representative from Heartline, highlighted the importance of nurturing healthy relationships. He spoke about building strong father-son relationships in modern society, emphasizing the need for communication, trust, and emotional support.
Soccer coaches Vusi and Puka reinforced community engagement and positive role modeling, inspiring attendees through sports as a means of instilling discipline and leadership qualities.
A multi-sectoral approach to youth empowerment was evident through the various stakeholders who shared valuable insights on projects, skills development, and career pathways available to young people.
Francis Mokatsa, an ex-convict, shared his powerful testimony, shining a light on the consequences of poor life choices and the possibility of redemption.

Sam Nyombani commended the collaborative effort, urging continued community involvement in shaping responsible future leaders.
The police noted that the seminar marked a significant step towards strengthening family structures and fostering a culture of mentorship and accountability among young males in the Lejweleputswa district.
Stakeholders have committed to sustaining such initiatives to ensure long-term positive outcomes for the community.
