Under the starlit skies, poetry becomes a bridge between cultures, languages, and generations. Glanced by Stars Poetry Festival is more than just a celebration of words; it’s a movement to revive indigenous voices, honor African storytelling traditions, and reclaim the power of poetry in our communities.
Through spoken word, performance, and workshops, the festival aims to reconnect us with nature, our roots, and what we stand for. It’s about coexistence, unity, and giving poetry the spotlight it deserves in the creative sector.

Language plays a pivotal role in the development of the community as it is an effortless way of harnessing our diverse cultural identity and preserving our heritage as people. A group of Poets and musicians from in and around the Mangaung Municipality will showcase a powerful and much-needed poetry production titled: Glanced by Stars Poetry Festival on 6 March 2026 at the PACOFS Garden.
The Poetry Festival is one of its kind and covers different aspects of our societal ills and sources of pride. Glanced by Stars is created and directed by the award-winning poet, Maleshoane Mphutlane, who said that the initiative is inspired by the desire to see the Sesotho language and other indigenous languages finding expression in a cosmopolitan, fast-paced society. For her, language can be a tool that can facilitate social cohesion, create social awareness, and alleviate unemployment, especially within the art and culture fraternity.
