Community-based organisations, Mapantsula A Botshabelo, Mapantsula A Bloem-Town, and Dickies Lovers reached out to the homeless in Bloemfontein on 18 April, serving soup and bread. This initiative was open not only to the homeless but also to ordinary community members who wanted to join in.

Moetsi Lucas “Pablo” Sebata, the Chairperson of Mapantsula A Botshabelo, emphasized that charity work is central to their mission, and they are committed to giving back to the community. They also engage with local high schools, providing motivation, discouraging bullying, and offering trauma and counselling support to help others.

Sebata highlighted their understanding of hunger and uncertainty surrounding meals, which drives their commitment to helping the homeless. They aim to make their soup kitchen a regular event, either monthly or weekly, depending on the support they receive from sponsors and donations, as they fund these efforts themselves.

The three organisations are united by their passion for Dickies clothing and the vibrant Mapantsula culture that has its roots in South African townships from the 1980s to the present day.
