Botshabelo-based talented writer, Masentle Fetsela, is ending 2025 on a high note with the publication of six new books. Among them are three books in a Sesotho series that aims to educate readers about the experiences of people living with albinism. In total, Masentle has published ten books, written in both Sesotho and English.

Writing has been an integral part of Masentle’s life, and this year marks her fourteenth year as a writer. She focuses on children’s literature as well as books targeted toward adult readers.

Her books are available in national libraries across Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, and Mpumalanga, with plans to expand distribution to Durban, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, and Gauteng.

Phumi Manju from Umnotho Enterprise has played a significant role in helping Masentle achieve her goals. Since February this year, Masentle has been actively visiting schools where her books are used in reading competitions. Primary schools like Hohle, Sankatane, Amohelang, and the Tswelopele Disability Center have incorporated her books into their Read Aloud Competitions.

Fellow writer Thabo Mosole, a member of the Botshabelo Writers Club, collaborates closely with Masentle to promote the use of her books in these competitions.

In addition to her writing endeavors, Masentle has also been working on Mathematical Literacy Study Guides for students in grades 4 to 12. She runs a platform where individuals can share their personal stories related to trauma and difficulties they have faced.
