The two day Matjhabeng Local Municipality Strategic Planning Session was recently held in Welkom in the Free State. The session was billed to be robust and interactive also towards suggesting progressive strategies to enhance economic growth in the area.
The session was held under the theme: “Becoming Impactors of Change for Service Delivery.” The session aimed to strengthen collaborations and innovations in addressing community needs and municipal service excellence.
Free State MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure Dibolelo Mance graced the session upon an invite sent to her by the Office of the Acting Executive Mayor, Hlobohang Mokhomo.

“We will assist where we can and we hope our intervention will be welcomed by the Municipality,” said MEC Mance.
MEC Mance also shared with the audience that, the department will continue to service the current municipal account and find better ways to address the historic debt, and will also deploy about 100 EPWP Participants at the municipality including 20 participants under their flagship Artisan Development Programme (ADP).”
“As the department we will donate a property/house to a local NGO that deals with matters of gender based violence for them to service our communities under a conducive and habitable space,” alluded MEC Mance.
The Artisan Development Programme Participants will service all the identified maintenance work required within the municipality and the institution will only be required to secure and procure the materials to do the work.
