Radio is Tshepo Majake’s first love

He is often dubbed as the King of the airwaves and when behind the mic, he makes the listeners to fall in love with him.

Tshepo Johannes Majake hosts Thakaneng Afternoon Drive show weekly from 15:00-18:00 on Qwaqwa Radio in the Eastern Free State.

Tshepo fell in love with Radio at a tender age. Growing up in Sebokeng, listening to the radio was just a hobby for him but over the years, Tshepo got to love it so much he wanted to be behind the mic.

Tshepo emphasized that he realized his love for radio while doing grade 5 at Iteboheleng Primary School, the was no television set at his home, and radio was the source of information and entertainment for them.

“I used to mimic on-air presenters a lot. I will sometimes broadcast alone but my family kept on supporting my talent and a lot of my peers did not understand my love for radio. Whenever my teachers asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I proudly told them I wanted to be a radio presenter” Tshepo said.

He stood firm on his decision to be a radio presenter and while doing grade 12, he started to focus on getting on radio post-matric.

“What inspired me to be on radio is after realizing that, when people close to me had problems, they came to me for help and I was able to assist, that inspired me, to be able to help people and be a good listener” Tshepo added.

The Qwaqwa Radio presenter prepares for his show a day in advance as it gives him ample time to go over his script, arrange interviews, and prepare thoroughly.

Tshepo looks up to Lesedi FM Legend Chomane Chomane. Talking about his show, Thakaneng Afternoon Drive, Tshepo said it entails Education, Sports, and Entertainment and they play music from local artists.
