All systems go for the 2024 Free State State of the Province Address which will be held in QwaQwa in the Eastern Free State on Thursday 29 February.
Security will be tight and measures have been put in place to ensure a successful 2024 SOPA.
Addressing members of the media during the Pre-Sopa media briefing held on Monday 26 February at the 4th Raadsaal in Bloemfontein, Speaker of the Free State Legislature Zanele Sefuba said they are ready for the official opening of the FS Legislature.
The theme for the FS Legislature this year is “Growing the Free State, together making your future work better”. Over 40 media personnel are expected to attend the SOPA, Lesedi FM, and community radio stations will broadcast the SOPA live.
1600 people are expected to attend this year’s SOPA. 800 will be accredited guests representing various public and private institutions and 800 will be members of the public.
450 emergency and security personnel (police, traffic officials, ushers, and management) will be working on the day.
The will be no VIP accreditations issued at the venue, members of the Free State legislature will attend the SOPA including international guests, Premiers from other provinces, Mayors, and municipal speakers to mention just a few.
Free State Premier Mxolisi Dukwana will take to the podium at 10:00.
“We are looking forward to a successful event without incidents.” Said Zanele Sifuba.
