Rouxville in the Free State might be a small town, but there is no shortage of talent. One of its sons, Tshepo Makhanda, has dropped a brand new EP that’s gaining traction in the area.
Titled Aluta, RuccaDon describes his new project as an encapsulation of pain, struggle, rebellion, and aspirations. Known as Letsopa la Rucca, he is a hip-hop artist with influences from Kwaito and Motswako.
Born in Rouxville, Roleleathunya, RuccaDon developed an appreciation for Kwaito music early on, eventually transitioning to hip-hop. He began writing his own lyrics during his high school years and released a single titled “No Safety Net” in 2016, which marked his first national TV performance on Hectic Nine9, SABC2.

Following that, he launched an EP called Tswelopele, which reflects his personal experiences and dreams. To promote this work, he performed live at various events, including Afrofest, and made a notable appearance at Cape Town’s ArtsCape Theatre on November 1, 2018, as part of MCI’s Mzansi One Tree Many Roots Showcase, an initiative led by Gabi le Roux, Vicky Sampson, and Nini Schlechter.
RuccaDon has a diverse music catalog with singles that explore themes such as love, self-reflection, and hustle. He’s also participated in music and songwriting workshops, and one of his tracks was featured in a music compilation project endorsed by the Department of Culture, Arts and Sport (DCAS). With his fresh EP, RuccaDon is poised to make a significant mark on the music scene.
