Tshepo Isaac Moseme, known professionally as Cmax, is quickly making a name for himself in South Africa’s vibrant music scene.
Hailing from Dewetsdorp in the Free State, Cmax’s journey to the spotlight took a decisive turn after joining a challenge initiated by fellow artist Sannere for the song “MothoOaPelo.”
In less than a day after he posted his submission video, Sannere shared it on his page, asking fans to help find him, further marking the beginning of a whirlwind rise that would see him working alongside some of the region’s most respected talents.
The song is set to feature on PhokaEaBoroa’s highly anticipated upcoming project, bringing together musical heavyweights such as NtateStunna, Maleboo, and Sannere, alongside Cmax and more.
For Cmax, collaborating with these artists was both a dream and a challenge.
“At first, it wasn’t easy—I was star-struck because everything happened so fast. But they made jokes and shared stories, so we were all comfortable in no time.”
Despite the pressure, Cmax stayed true to himself artistically. In every song he is featured in, he tries to match the energy and vibe, but he makes sure that he doesn’t lose his authentic sound, as being different is his superpower.
The lyrics of “MothoOaPelo,” which tackle the universal challenges we all face, resonated deeply with Cmax, who wrote his verse from a place of personal experience.
“I relate so much to the lyrics, and I wrote my verse based on what I’ve been through. God’s timing is always perfect. Don’t let anyone take away the little light inside of you.” Said Cmax, who credits divine timing for his success:
