From an early age, Mohanuwa Maliehe from Tweespruit in the Free State discovered the magic of art and its power to heal, express, and inspire. What began as simple colouring and crafting at the age of eight soon grew into a lifelong passion for creativity.
Over the years, Mohanuwa has developed a wide range of artistic skills—transforming ordinary materials into works of beauty.
“That’s when I realized there’s truly nothing I cannot do with my hands,” she says proudly.

For her, art is far more than just a hobby—it’s a powerful form of self-expression. Through painting, crafting, and design, she channels thoughts, emotions, and ideas in ways that words often cannot.
“Art is like a language we all understand but speak differently—and there’s beauty in that diversity,” Mohanuwa explains.
She describes art as healing, therapeutic, relaxing, meditative, imaginative, exciting, creative, and inventive. It gives her freedom to imagine, to create, and to share her world with others.

Her talents extend beyond traditional painting. Mohanuwa specializes in mural painting (talking walls), wall painting on canvas, and customizing shoes and caps using different fabrics and textures.
“There’s still so much more I continue to explore,” she adds.
To Mohanuwa, art is everywhere—alive in every colour, shape, and idea waiting to be brought to life. Her story is a reminder that creativity is limitless, and that anyone, anywhere, can learn and grow through art.
