Two suspects arrested in connection with Machaka Radebe’s murder

Two suspects aged 28 and 40 years were arrested on 28 December in relation to the murder and kidnapping of Machaka Radebe.

Radebe’s body was found on a field in Bloemfontein on Monday 4 December. She was reported missing on 2 December.

 The Free State Police Spokesperson Montantsi Makhele said their team followed Intelligence led information that resulted in the arrest of the two men. One was arrested in Bloemfontein and the other one while driving between Dewetsdorp and Wepener.

The suspects made a brief appearance at the Bloemfontein Magistrate court on 2 January 2024 and their case was postponed to 8 January 2024 for a bail hearing.

“Investigations are at a critical stage in this matter and names of the suspects and further information cannot be revealed.” Said Police Spokesperson Montantsi Makhele.

Meanwhile, Free State Premier Mxolisi Dukwana has welcomed the arrest of the suspects and applauded the police for the swift arrest.

“The arrest of the two suspects is a testament to the dedication and tireless efforts of the SAPS in ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice. We extend our gratitude to the SAPS for their unwavering  commitment to upholding the safety and security of our communities.” Said Dukwana

Premier Mxolisi Dukwana reaffirmed his confidence in the law enforcement agencies’ capabilities to address and resolve cases involving kidnapping and violence against women and children in the Free State.
