With a passion for sports ingrained in her, Seipati Marumo, also known as Lepara Le Dese, is on a mission to make a positive impact in her community.
Recognizing the high number of boys engaging in rebellious behavior, she decided to help shape the next generation. Her solution? The Tsama Pekenene Tournament, a soccer event designed to bring people together and provide a platform for young talent to shine.
Seipati emphasizes that soccer is a universal language that connects people. With the support of Gosiame Mompati, Seipati aims to identify and nurture talent in the community, focusing on players in the Under-13 to Under-17 age groups. Her goal isn’t to create a single dominant team but to support all teams striving to succeed.
“The Tsama Pekenene Tournament is more than just a sporting event. It is a celebration of community spirit and a testament to the power of positivity and determination. We look forward to seeing the impact it will have on Thaba Nchu’s youth,” she stated.
The main aim of the tournament is to provide a safe and positive environment for children to engage in sports, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among local schools.
Additionally, the tournament seeks to keep youth away from negative influences by involving them in productive activities, fostering community spirit and unity among participating schools, and developing skills and talent in young athletes, particularly in the Under-13/15 and Under-17 age groups. The tournament is set to take place on 14 June 2025, in Zone 2, Thaba Nchu, in the Free State, commencing at 10AM.
Winning teams will receive soccer kits, balls, and trophies.
