The police have made a significant breakthrough in the case of Olorato Mongale’s murder by arresting the owner of the Volkswagen vehicle that was used in the crime. The car was discovered and seized by law enforcement at a panel-beater workshop in Phoenix, Durban.

A multidisciplinary team, led by the SAPS anti-kidnapping task force, initially traced the investigation to a lodge in Kew, Johannesburg, where two suspects had booked a room. Further intelligence directed the police to KwaMashu in Durban, to the home of one of the suspects.

The suspect’s vehicle was ultimately located at the panel-beater workshop. Upon inspection by SAPS forensic experts, traces of blood were found inside the vehicle. An elderly man, believed to be the owner of the car, has been arrested.
Meanwhile, the police are still searching for two men who are thought to have been directly involved in Olorato’s murder. The wanted men, Fezile Ngubane and Philangenkosi Sibongokuhle Makhanya, are considered dangerous. Members of the public are urged to help by sharing their photos to assist police investigations.
If anyone spots the wanted men, they are advised to call Brigadier Nama at 082 778-9035.
