More than 70 Bloemfontein residents came together on Saturday as e-hailing service Maxim partnered with two local church organisations; Woman’s Mamyano and S.J Litheko Wesley Guild 0538 to commemorate Nelson Mandela Day through a community outreach aimed at supporting vulnerable members of the community.
The initiative formed part of Maxim’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities in which it operates. Held on 18 July 2026, the outreach saw Maxim work alongside volunteers to prepare and serve warm meals, distribute food parcels and spend time engaging with community members.
In addition to serving meals to the attendees, food hampers containing essential groceries were distributed to elderly beneficiaries and families in need. The hampers were further supplemented with additional food items, ensuring recipients received meaningful support during the winter season.
The event was organised by S.J Litheko Wesley Guild and Maxim representatives Lesoli Lemphane, together with Uyathandwa Jaxa, supported by two promotional staff members. Their hands-on involvement reflected Maxim’s commitment to creating meaningful partnerships that extend beyond transportation services.
As an e-hailing platform connecting passengers with drivers through its mobile app while also offering delivery services, Maxim believes businesses have an important role to play in strengthening the communities they serve. The Nelson Mandela Day initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and upliftment of the community it operates in.
