Dewetsdorp-born Reverend, Motantsi Makhele has released his debut book titled “The Boy Child Speaks!”

The book offers readers an intimate and courageous journey of reflection, resilience, and healing.

In this deeply personal narrative, Makhele opens a long-awaited conversation between the seven-year-old boy he once was and the 56-year-old man he has become. Born in Morojaneng, Dewetsdorp, Makhele rose from humble beginnings during the apartheid era to build a life marked by discipline, faith, and service.

A devoted husband and father of four, he dedicated 36 years of his life to the South African Police Service, rising through the ranks to Brigadier before taking early retirement in 2025.

He is an ordained minister at the Phahameng Dutch Reformed Church in Africa, continuing to guide and uplift his community through spiritual leadership.

The Boy Child Speaks! is more than a memoir, it is a heartfelt exploration of fear, courage, vulnerability, and growth. Through honest reflection, Makhele revisits childhood pain not to relive it, but to understand it.

The book speaks to anyone who has carried the silent echoes of their younger self into adulthood. It is an invitation to confront the past with compassion and to embrace healing as a gradual reclaiming of identity and strength.

The Boy Child Speaks! promises to resonate with readers seeking truth, understanding, and inspiration.

The book costs R250 per copy.
