The Free State Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) has achieved a clean audit outcome for the financial year ended 31 March 2026, following the conclusion of a rigorous audit process.
The department said the clean audit outcome reflects the department’s unwavering commitment to sound governance, prudent financial management, accountability, and continuous improvement in the delivery of its mandate.

The Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) in the Free State commended the department for its achievement, noting that the outcome is a testament to of its sustained efforts to strengthen governance and financial management practices.
Saki Mokoena, the MEC for CoGTA and Human Settlements, expressed his appreciation to all officials for their dedication and commitment.
MEC Mokoena said the clean audit outcome demonstrates that the department continues to strengthen its governance systems and financial controls, while reinforcing public confidence in its ability to manage public resources responsibly.
“Achieving a clean audit outcome affirms that the department has maintained strong governance and sound financial management practices. This milestone places the department on an upward trajectory as we continue working towards excellence in service delivery and accountable governance,” said MEC Mokoena.
