A respected South African writer, journalist, content creator, and entrepreneur from Thaba Nchu in the Free State, has been honored with the Central Music Awards Chairman’s Award. This recognition is reserved for individuals whose work has made a meaningful and lasting impact on the music industry and the creative community at large.
Masakala has built a remarkable career rooted in storytelling and service. He is widely known for his extensive collection of self-published books and, above all, for his consistent journalistic contribution to the arts sector. Through his newspaper, Mangaung Issue, he has created a platform that celebrates the voices, achievements, and experiences of Free State creatives. His work has helped shape a more visible and
appreciated arts community, guiding readers to understand the importance of nurturing local talent.
Beyond his writing, Masakala is a committed social entrepreneur who remains deeply connected to the communities that raised him. He has invested his time and resources into projects that empower others to move forward with confidence and dignity.
As the founder of the Business Content Creation Workshop, he supports emerging entrepreneurs with practical skills. His recent contribution to a Women based Training Workshops placed women from rural Thaba Nchu at the centre, offering training in hair, beauty, and makeup. These sessions were designed to inspire the women to start businesses of their own and to see themselves as capable leaders in their homes and communities.
Masakala’s presence is felt across many areas of the sports and recreation industry. Whether he is covering theatre, film, music, sports, or visual arts, he approaches each story with care and respect. His work reminds us that greatness is not only found in personal success but also in the doors one opens for others.
The Central Music Awards Chairman’s Award celebrates precisely this spirit. Teboho Masakala’s journey stands as a powerful example of what is possible when talent meets purpose and when one chooses to use their voice to uplift the people around them.
