The DJ Zondi Charity Drive hosted a special Mandela Day Children’s party for children in Thaba Nchu on July 18 in Zone 2.
While many celebrated Mandela Day by volunteering and reaching out to the less fortunate, the DJ Zondi Charity Drive, a non-profit organization, focused on making the day memorable for the children. It was more than just a party; it was an opportunity for the children to feel special, loved, and supported by their community.
The event was filled with games, music, dance, and various entertainment activities. Toys were distributed to the children, and the Kamogelo Disability Centre in Zone 2 received essential items such as pots, kettles, and a gas stove. Interstate, one of the sponsors, donated these items to the charity drive to support the center, which cares for children with disabilities in Thaba Nchu.
Fikile “DJ Zondi” Nogabe emphasized that the party was particularly for the children of Thaba Nchu, who came from various areas to join in the festivities. He mentioned that the organization aimed to teach children the importance of giving back, so they shared with others and learned to appreciate what they have.
“We usually host charity events for the elderly, but we recognized that children often feel left out. We wanted to restore the notion that it takes a village to raise a child,” DJ Zondi expressed. “Our goal was to show children how precious and important they are in our community.”
This event is part of the numerous charity initiatives the non-profit organization holds to promote community development, love, and unity.
DJ Zondi thanked the sponsors and stakeholders who played a crucial role in the event’s success, noting that the party wouldn’t have been possible without their support. He expressed gratitude for helping him fulfill his wish to put smiles on the faces of children and uplift the community.
