The Free State Province is more than a go-through province but a go-to province, this was emphasized by the Minister of Tourism Patricia De Lille during the launch of the Summer Campaign at De Oude Kraal Country Estate in Bloemfontein, Free State.

The campaign aims to encourage South Africans to explore the country during the festive season. De Lille in her address stated that the Free State is a hidden gem and has great places to explore and enjoy.

The Campaign launch was held in the Free State to promote the province and its hidden gems. Free State is the least visited province in South Africa according to Minister De Lille.

SA Tourism has partnered with local tourist establishments in the country to give affordable packages to South Africans. 400 tourist establishments will be offering discounts during the summer campaign.

According to De Lille, domestic tourism contributed R120 billion to the SA economy in 2023, while international tourism contributed R95 billion. This highlights the importance of domestic tourism.
