Budding soccer star, Onthatile James from Botshabelo, has been handed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He has been selected to participate in the Madcup Futbol Madrid 2026 soccer tournament, which will take place from 19 to 24 June in Madrid, Spain.
Madcup is an international project that has been organising youth football tournaments for five years, held in collaboration with the community of Madrid and the Atletico de Madrid Academy.
This year’s edition will feature more than 800 teams from 40 countries. Onthatile James, the grade 8 learner from Setjhaba Semaketse Combined School, has grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
James has been selected from the ITEC Tournament (playing for Motloung Football Academy) to participate in the Madrid-based tournament.
However, there are costs he must cover to get to Madrid, and he needs R52000, which will cover the trip. It will cover flights, transportation in Madrid, participation in the tournament, tour apparel, meals, and other costs.
The family of James is kindly asking for donations and sponsorships to make the young man’s dream a reality. Any amount is welcome.
