The Second Annual Miss Elite Thaba Nchu pageant recently took place at the Mmabana Theatre, bringing together young girls from across Thaba Nchu for a celebration of empowerment and talent. This inspiring event is the brainchild of 16-year-old Retshidisitswe Mangatane, who envisioned the pageant as more than just a competition—it’s a platform for young girls in the Thaba Nchu community to unleash their potential.
“Our motto, ‘Unleashing the Light within,’ reflects our mission to inspire,” Mangatane expressed. “I was motivated by the many girls in my community who aspire to be models but lack the opportunities to pursue their dreams. I wanted to create a space where they can compete, grow, and truly shine.”
The Miss Elite Thaba Nchu pageant focuses on building confidence and igniting passion. The organizers believe that every girl possesses unique talents, and their role is to help these young women discover and showcase those gifts. Participants not only gain experience in pageantry but also form a supportive community and find mentors who guide them on their journey.
Retshidisitswe Mangatane, both director and founder of the pageant, has dedicated herself to empowering young girls. Having started modeling in 2022, she quickly rose to success, winning a school competition and participating in various pageants throughout 2023, including Miss Sapphire and Miss Luminaria. Each experience has contributed to her growth into the confident leader she is today.
With her unwavering commitment to female empowerment, Mangatane continues to inspire the next generation of young women, proving that with the right support, they can achieve their dreams and make a positive impact in their community.
