The Free State MEC for Finance Toto Makume tabled the provincial 2025 budget Speech in Bloemfontein on Tuesday 18 March.Once again, Education Department and Health got the lions share.
The Departments were allocated as follows:
Education is allocated R18.8 billion in 2025/26
The Department of Health is allocated R14.1 billion in 2025/26
The Department of Social Development is allocated R1.3 billion in 2025/26
The Department Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation will receive a total allocation of R665.5 million in 2025/26.
The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is allocated R2.3 billion in 2025/26.
The Department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport is allocated R3.7 billion in 2025/26
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is allocated R883 million in 2025/26.
The Department of Human Settlements receives an allocation of close to R1.3 billion in 2025/26.
DESTEA is allocated an amount of R696 million for 2025/26.
The Office of the Premier receives R633 million in 2025/26.
COOPERATIVE GOVERNANCE AND TRADITIONAL AFFAIRS (COGTA) is allocated R447 million in 2025/26
The Provincial Treasury is allocated R383 million in 2025/26.
The Provincial Legislature (Free State Legislature) is allocated R323 million in 2025/26.
