On Friday, 25 October, employees of the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality (MMM) came together in a heartwarming display of solidarity and social responsibility, reflecting on their impactful journey of supporting the Association of Persons with Disabilities (APD).
The gathering, orchestrated by the Employee Wellness Division at Indaba Auditorium, marked a significant moment as organisational employees in the Free State united to contribute a substantial R109,480 through the purchase of casual merchandise – a testament to their collective compassion and commitment.
The Director of APD, Ms. Nthabiseng Molongoane, was profoundly moved, expressing heartfelt thanks to MMM employees for this extraordinary contribution. Her emotions spoke volumes as she acknowledged the stark contrast between this year’s amount and last year’s R19,700, underscoring the remarkable growth and dedication.

Executive Mayor Cllr Gregory Nthatisi lauded employees for embodying social responsibility, urging his Mayoral Committee members to follow suit with their own contributions. He stressed the importance of understanding challenges faced by persons with disabilities, positioning MMM as a pivotal player in fostering inclusivity. Notably, he extended an invitation to *Ms. Nthabiseng Molongoana* to address the Mayoral Committee in their upcoming meeting.
Mr. Makhetha, Employee Wellness Professional behind this initiative, delivered stirring closing remarks, reminding employees of their transformative power and urging them not to underestimate their impact. His words resonated deeply, amplifying the sense of purpose.

The poignant session culminated in a celebratory gathering at *Rose Garden – Loch-Logan* at 12h00, graciously permitted by Mr. Sello More, City Manager, who deemed this milestone worthy of jubilation. It was a fitting tribute to the collective spirit and generosity of MMM employees.
This initiative shines brightly as an exemplar of workplace compassion and community engagement, spotlighting the profound difference collaborative efforts can make in uplifting associations like APD and championing inclusivity.
