Thabiso Moloi, also known as Thabiso waMaluti, from Qwaqwa in the Free State, is thrilled to announce the release of his latest single, “Sponono.” The beautiful Afro-soul track is quickly gaining popularity across social media platforms, boosting Thabiso’s following in the music scene.
“Sponono” is a heartfelt rendition in Sesotho, dedicated to all women who have just found love, as well as those still searching for their life partners. The song carries a powerful message that emphasizes self-worth and the idea that love will come when the time is right.
As a versatile singer, songwriter, composer, and performer, Thabiso’s musical journey spans nearly two decades, focusing primarily on Afro-soul and Gospel genres. In an interview with Free State World, he shared that his passion for music ignited at the tender age of 14 after the loss of his mother, which led him to use music as a refuge during lonely times.
“I have been a musician for almost 20 years now. I love doing music because it is my talent, and my music creates a special connection in the spiritual realm that can heal and educate listeners, helping them feel seen and less alone. It serves as a voice for the voiceless,” he expressed.
With three albums and four active singles already under his belt, “Sponono” marks a significant new chapter in his career after a three-year hiatus focused on artist development and understanding the business of music. This single sets the stage for an upcoming EP featuring seven songs with contributions from local and national artists and producers.
Thabiso aims to use “Sponono” to elevate the Sesotho language within music, aiming to restore its dignity and highlight its beauty through storytelling and creativity. He believes that there are few artists advocating for Sesotho in this way, and he’s excited about the opportunity to fill that gap.
