Final-year Law student Tsholofetso Mahasa from Turflaagte location in Bloemfontein will be representing the University of the Free State at the Moot Court International Competition in Vienna, Austria. This prestigious event is a significant opportunity for law students to showcase their skills in a simulated legal environment.
The Willem Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, which Mahasa will participate in, is known as the world’s largest and most esteemed moot court competition, attracting around 400 universities globally.

In this mock trial setting, law students take on the roles of lawyers, presenting cases to a panel of judges who are often experienced legal professionals themselves. The competition tests students’ knowledge of the law and their ability to think critically under pressure.
Mahasa will be in Vienna from March 24th to April 2nd, where she will compete with other top law students from around the world. She is one of four students selected to represent the University of the Free State, chosen from a highly competitive pool of participants ranging from first-year students to those at master’s level.
This experience not only represents a significant milestone in Mahasa’s academic journey but also serves as a platform to develop her legal acumen and connect with future leaders in the legal field.
