At just seven years old, Nontsikelelo Phume from Bloemfontein has accomplished what many only dream of: publishing her debut book.
The 7-year-old author has just released her first book titled “Rainbow Business”.
This remarkable achievement highlights not only the creativity of children but also the importance of nurturing literacy from an early age. Nontsikelelo’s accomplishment is a shining example of how young voices can inspire communities, proving that age is no barrier to storytelling, imagination, and entrepreneurship.

“Rainbow Business” is more than just a children’s story; it serves as a powerful introduction to money management and entrepreneurship from the perspective of a 7-year-old author. With bright storytelling and relatable lessons, Nontsikelelo encourages her peers to dream big, think smart, and believe in their ideas. Her book holds the unique charm of being crafted for children by a child, making it a truly special addition to South African literature.

The book will be launched on 17 October at the Urth in Bloemfontein, in partnership with Standard Bank, facilitated by Charmza Literary.
Standard Bank will also guide parents and guardians on how to open accounts to nurture young entrepreneurs and authors, ensuring that the message of financial literacy goes beyond reading to being actively practiced.
Entry to the book launch is R100, which does not include a copy of the book.
