In a vibrant celebration of the upcoming Festive Season, the Free State Gambling, Liquor, and Tourism Authority (FSGLTA) orchestrated a gathering of tour operators and tourism product owners at the Xhariep Dam. The event aimed to foster collaboration and highlight the diverse tourism offerings within the Free State.

Executive Mayor of Xhariep District Municipality, Hon Irene Mehlomakulu, opened the event with enthusiasm, stating, she was honoured to be part of the event and applauded FSGLTA for hosting the festive Season launch in Xhariep District.

The activities kicked off with a dynamic session of Speed Marketing, where tour operators and tourism product owners had the opportunity to get a sneak peek at the rich tapestry of tourism experiences the Free State has to offer. Engaging sessions allowed each presenter to showcase their unique offerings, providing a glimpse into the vast and varied attractions available.

As the day unfolded, those attending the event had the chance to explore the beauty of the Xhariep Dam, known as the second-largest man-made dam in South Africa.

This serene location provided the perfect backdrop for further networking and discussions, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of the tourism industry in the Free State.

As the attendees ventured into the exploration of this remarkable dam, the event marked a successful step towards promoting and enhancing tourism in the region.

Free State State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority CEO Kenny Dichabe reiterated that the Free State Province is not a go-through province but rather a go-to province and they are looking to attract tourists from across South Africa to visit and enjoy the Free State Province.

“This is the festive and we did not want to be left out as a province. The Summer campaign aim is to declare the Free State as an available and open holiday destination for South Africans, we must also encourage Free State residents to experience their own province.” Said Dichabe.

Dichabe further said as holidaymakers and tourists plan their festive itinerary, he wants them to include the Free State Province as the province is more than just a drive-through.
