Karabo Lucky Rakotsoane is living his dream as a radio presenter, entertaining audiences through the power of radio. Known by his stage name, DJ Father SA, he hosts two shows: the afternoon drive and the Top 30 show on Saturdays on Shanel Radio in Welkom.
DJ Father credits his love for radio to influences like Reggie Philander, Matshogo Mhloko, and Ba2cada.
“I looked up to them as role models. My interest in radio began in Grade 10 when I started taking notes on how presenters led their shows. I often mimicked Thabo Mokone during free periods at school and received compliments from my classmates,” he said.
For DJ Father, the essence of radio remains unchanged. He appreciates how it delivers vital information and empowers the youth. His shows cover a range of topics, including education, new music, trending social media content, and community issues.
“What I love about my show is that I get to educate people and present real-life topics that I research before sharing with my audience,” he concluded.
