Fauresmith in the Free State might be a small town, but it is rich with talent.
Gosiame Boitumelo Saula, a 16-year-old learner from Olien Secondary School in Fauresmith, continues to make the town proud following his remarkable performance at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Oral History Competition held in the Eastern Cape recently.
The Inkosi Albert Luthuli Oral History Competition provides a broad platform that accommodates all learners, including those with disabilities. The competition featured more than 10 categories, catering to learners in grades 8-11.

Gosiame participated in the Research Task, focusing on the topic “Strengthening our democracy through the constitution.”
He first competed in the local leg of the competition on June 6, 2025, in Trompsburg, where he claimed 1st place, qualifying him to represent the district at the provincial level.
The second round took place in Bloemfontein from July 24-26, where Gosiame competed against four learners from different districts and secured 1st position in the Grade 10 category. This achievement paved the way for him to represent the Free State at the national level.

Gosiame then represented the Free State in East London from August 20-24. He did exceptionally well, finishing in 2nd position in the Grade 10 category and outclassing other participants from across the country, making him the second-best in the nation for his category.
