Fruitful Womb, a play featuring cast members from Thaba Nchu and Botshabelo received a standing ovation during their recent performance at Bapala Theatre in Riverside, Qwaqwa, Free State.
The theatre play had a two day tour to Qwaqwa, performing at Bapala Theatre and at Malmoj Theatre in Phuthaditjhaba in Qwaqwa.
The play was written and directed by Nthabiseng Mothibe from Thaba Nchu and first opened on 19 October 2024.

Nthabiseng Mothibe said her play includes five cast members and an assistant director. Fruitful Womb is a powerful theatre production that blends dance, music and poetic storytelling. The play delves into the complexities of womanhood, injustice, resilience and cultural expectations.
The play follows a young woman called Nomthandazo, as family secrets unravel and ancestral wisdom comes into play. Fruitful Womb challenges societal norms, explores generational trauma and ultimately celebrates the strength and resilience of women,” said Mothibe.
“Our hard work has paid off. The standing ovation was a huge confidence booster, one that we will forever cherish as Fruitful womb,” Mothibe emphasized.
