Viljoenskroon-based visual artist Majoro Ramabitsa, known by his stage name Mayor P Art, is gaining attention for his unique approach to visual art.
A self-taught artist, Majoro utilizes cigarette butts to create impressive portraits and landscape artworks. Born in Edenville, Majoro always had a passion for drawing.
Despite initial difficulties, he made a conscious decision to improve his skills and has never looked back. Majoro attributes his love for drawing to his uncle, who was a visual artist and served as an inspiration for him to excel in this field.
Majoro highlighted, “What I love about being an artist is that one has to be creative, think outside the box, and create something that has never been done before. Unleashing your unique skills is the most powerful aspect of visual art that I enjoy.”
Majoro’s artwork prices start from R480 for A3 size pieces using a ballpoint pen. Prices for A2, A1, and A0 sizes, as well as colored pencil (Fibre castels) artworks, vary. Additionally, he offers nail and string art starting from A2 size.
Notably, Majoro’s cigarette butts artwork starts from R2200 for an A2 Size. Utilizing cigarette butts (stubs) to create the artwork, Majoro continues to impress people with his creations. While Majoro hasn’t displayed his work at art galleries or exhibitions, he is open to creating extra pieces for display.
It takes Majoro seven days to create a standard piece of artwork and about two weeks to finish his cigarette butts artworks, which he refers to as SpojaArt.
