Ntate Leraisa is more than an artist; he is a living embodiment of Basotho heritage, tradition, and authentic African storytelling. Renowned for his powerful presence, deep Sesotho expression, and unmatched cultural authenticity, Ntate Leraisa has positioned himself as one of Lesotho’s most distinctive and respected creative voices.

A poet, musician, actor, voice-over artist, scriptwriter, film producer, and cultural storyteller, Ntate Leraisa continues to captivate audiences through art that speaks directly to the soul of Basotho identity. His work masterfully bridges tradition and modern artistic expression, preserving indigenous knowledge while presenting it in a way that resonates with both older and younger generations.

Born and raised in the rural village of Ha Taaso in the Berea District of Lesotho, Ntate Leraisa’s upbringing remains deeply rooted in the customs, wisdom, and values of Basotho culture. He attended Piting Primary School before furthering his studies at St. James A.C.L High School.

During his youth, he underwent the sacred Basotho initiation rite (Lebollo) at Machache ’Matoeba Mountain in Ha Moshati, Pitsaneng, Berea, where he received the initiation name “Letseka” — a name that continues to define his spiritual and cultural identity.

Academically equipped with a Diploma in Mass Communication, Ntate Leraisa combines education, creativity, and cultural intelligence to deliver compelling storytelling across multiple platforms. Over the years, he has collaborated with some of Lesotho’s most celebrated artists, earning admiration for his originality, discipline, and dedication to preserving Sesotho culture through entertainment.

His music catalogue, available on all major digital streaming platforms, includes notable songs such as Lekholoa, Selemo, Li Lahla Balisa, and Vuleka Masango. Through these works, Ntate Leraisa delivers more than music — he delivers messages, wisdom, identity, and cultural pride.

What truly sets Ntate Leraisa apart is his unmistakable traditional image and artistic identity. Draped in his iconic grey Basotho blanket, carrying molamu oa lebetlela, and speaking in rich, poetic Sesotho filled with idioms and proverbs, he offers audiences an authentic cultural experience rarely found in modern entertainment spaces. His presence alone commands attention, respect, and admiration.

Beyond music, Ntate Leraisa has also established himself as a force within the film and digital entertainment industry. Through Sa Puruma Production, he has produced films that have collectively accumulated over 400,000 views on YouTube — a testament to his growing influence, storytelling excellence, and connection with audiences across different platforms.

As an accomplished writer, Ntate Leraisa is also preparing to release a Sesotho novel that will further contribute to the preservation of Basotho narratives, oral traditions, and indigenous knowledge systems through literature.

Currently, Ntate Leraisa is proudly working in partnership with Selemo Sa Basotho Arts and Culture Agency (SSB) on the upcoming Mangae Competition submissions across Lesotho. This important initiative seeks to celebrate, preserve, and promote Basotho customs, traditions, and cultural values. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to protecting and uplifting Basotho heritage for future generations.

Whether on stage, in film, through literature, or in traditional gatherings, Ntate Leraisa continues to inspire, educate, and entertain with unmatched authenticity. His mission remains clear: to ensure that the richness, dignity, and beauty of Basotho culture not only survives, but thrives in modern times and beyond.
