Renowned author and Lecturer Sabata Mpho Mokae, based in Kimberly, is set to lead a two-day Setswana writing workshop during the upcoming Thaba Nchu Book Festival.
The workshop, which will be held at Selosesha Public Library on 9-10 May, aims to provide guidelines and tools for first-time authors based in Thaba Nchu who aspire to write books in the future.
The event is open to poets, creatives, and storytellers who wish to attend for free. Sabata Mokae is highly experienced in writing in both English and Setswana. He has written and translated numerous books in Setswana and is willing to share his vast knowledge and expertise with anyone who feels that writing in their mother tongue is challenging.
He is the author of the biography “The Story of Sol T. Plaatje,” published in 2010, and his debut Setswana novel, “Ga Ke Modisa,” won the M-Net Literary Award for Best Novel in Setswana as well as the M-Net Film Award in 2013.
