The Sefora Ntombela Foundation hosted a vibrant pop-up flea market in Mafahlaneng, Tweeling, on Friday, 31 January 2025, bringing together women small-scale vegetable farmers to showcase and sell their fresh produce. The event not only celebrated sustainable farming but also highlighted its potential to tackle pressing community challenges such as hunger, malnutrition, and poverty.
The market was a resounding success, with all produce sold out, underscoring the community’s enthusiasm for locally grown food and the importance of supporting small-scale farmers.
AgriSeta Pledges Support for Community Growth
The event was graced by AgriSeta, whose presence marked a significant milestone for the community. The organization announced several initiatives aimed at empowering local residents:
- Establishing a Small Agricultural Training Centre: This centre will enhance farming practices and promote sustainable agriculture.
- Offering 30 Learnerships for Youth: Young people will gain valuable skills, creating opportunities for personal and professional growth.
- Revitalizing the Tweeling Youth Centre’s Computer Training Room: This initiative will equip the youth with digital skills, bridging the gap between agriculture and technology.
