Tiisetso Letele from Bloemfontein has always been passionate about radio, and being behind the mic has been his lifelong dream. He currently hosts “The Pulse” show on Radio Bloem, airing weekdays from 10am to 12pm.

Tiisetso discovered his talent for speaking while delivering sermons at church, where he found that his voice had a unique presence that captivated his audience. His experience in front of the congregation significantly boosted his confidence and ability to engage with people.

“I was drawn to environments that blended communication with technology, and the setup inside a radio studio fascinated me. That’s when I realized I wanted to pursue a career in broadcasting,” he explained.

Tiisetso loves the opportunity to conduct research as a radio host, which keeps him well-informed and continually learning—a valuable aspect of his journey. He is passionate about preparing and presenting content that resonates with his audience, whether it involves local stories, regional developments, national news, or global events.

“There’s something deeply fulfilling about being that link between information and the community. I also enjoy applying my creative skills by blending music with content in an engaging and thoughtful way, uniquely tailored for my listeners. Honestly, the excitement I feel when I’m in the studio, working with various computers and equipment, is unmatched. It’s a space where technology, creativity, and communication come together, and that energy truly fuels me,” he said.

“The Pulse” offers insightful discussions and explores the real challenges faced by communities. The show addresses critical issues such as service delivery, unemployment, health, business, labor, and education, with the aim of informing and empowering listeners. Tiisetso describes it as a platform for understanding and growth, enriched with a carefully curated blend of adult contemporary music, including soul, ballads, and timeless South African classics.

Before going on air, Tiisetso researches the day’s topics to ensure he is up to date on current affairs—locally, nationally, and globally. He emphasizes the importance of gathering reliable information, double-checking facts, and outlining the flow of the show.

“I also take time to structure how I’ll present the content, balancing it with the right music and tone for the day. Mentally, I take a moment to focus and center myself to connect clearly and confidently with the audience. Once I’m in the studio, I check my equipment, set up my cues, and ensure everything runs smoothly. Being on air is not just about speaking; it’s about creating an experience for the listener,” he emphasized.
