The Free State Development Corporation (FDC) continues to make a great impact on SMMEs, ensuring their survival through mentorship and financial backing.

One such success story is Bodibeng Chemicals Manufacturer and Distributers, a Chemical Manufacturer based in Phuthaditjhaba, Qwaqwa. It was established in 2003 by Molelekeng Merriam Ngomane, founded with the aim to manufacture cheaper domestic and industrial cleaning chemicals and provision of cleaning services.

The company has created jobs for members of the community, thus playing a vital role in decreasing unemployment and feeding families. The company currently has 15 people employed, 7 women and 8 men who are trained in chemical manufacturing and cleaning.

The Managing Director of Bodibeng Chemicals Manufacturer Mamello Ngomane, heaped praise on FDC on behalf of the company, grateful for their support.

Ngomane said FDC has been a vital part of their business journey: The company has received support from FDC in the form of renting out a building for a woman-led factory from 2003 to date, demonstrating their commitment to empowering women.

FDC accommodated Bodibeng Chemicals Manufacturer in times when it was difficult to pay rent, including the COVID era, and advised the company to seek aid from DESTEA which paid rent for Bodibeng.

FDC is currently assisting Bodibeng Chemicals Manufacturer to get funding from SEDA for ISO 9001:2015 implementation and product testing by SABS.

The ISO 9001:2015 certification will improve consumer trust and help the business grow tremendously as some companies and institutions need this Certificate before approving Bodibeng as a supplier.
