Talented Kroonstad-based rapper and vocalist, Jamal Blaq, has finally released her first commercial album titled “Tener Fe”.
The 18-year-old officially celebrated her birthday on 2 October by dropping a sizzling album and her fans are anticipating it with bated breath.
Jamal Blaq (real name Karabo Ditabe) started her music journey at age 13, she has always been fascinated by rap music and continued to make a name for herself in Gelukwaarts, Kroonstad.
Ciphers and MAF events were Jamals’s favourite as they helped her sharpen her skills as a rapper earning her a Soul-K Records deal, and impressing Princess Kasumi, a fellow Soul-K member.
Kasumi persuaded Jamal to give music a chance and record a verse, and once Jamal entered Soul-K Records, the rest was history.
Since venturing into music, Jamal was featured on the Lesedi compilation album, Godzilla single, “Impedulo and Stars Aligned” (a collaboration album with Princess Kasumi). She has also featured on the Life of Kasi EP with 9Four Dagger, Kganya album by Khulumthii, Dear Ditsebe album by Abnormal Lehlanya, Umhlaba, and Beyond EP with Fre-e Spin/Princess Kasumi.
Jamal has so far recorded 16 commercial songs in the space of a year before releasing her first official album “Tener Fe”
Tener Fe is a Latin phrase for “have faith”. Jamal Blaq has faith and confidence in her art.
Songs to look out for in the album are: Born to Lead, Grace, iThemba, Siviwe, Prayer, Kings, and O seke wa inehela, a classic Sesotho song that closes the album on a high note.
According to Jamal Blaq, the album is about having faith and not giving up on your path in life. Henecbeatz produced and mastered the Tener Fe album.
The album will be officially launched on 4 October 2024 at Afrodizzia Lounge in Constantia, Kroonstad from 6-10pm. Tener Fe is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all other music streaming platforms, including all of Jamal Blaq’s songs.
