Diile Matlejoane, a trailblazing woman in football from Mangaung, is shattering stereotypes in a male-dominated sport. As team manager of TenPont United FC, Matlejoane has led her team to remarkable heights, including a recent silver medal finish at the Rising Stars tournament hosted by the University of the Free State.
Despite falling short in the finals against Questes FC U/13, Matlejoane beams with pride at her team’s progress.
“I’m extremely proud of my team and how far they’ve come,” she says, undeterred by the defeat.
Under her guidance, TenPont United FC focuses on holistic player development, hosting weekly school sessions at Matlejoane’s home every Wednesday. The results speak for themselves: nine senior players have earned scholarships to Navilsig High School.
Matlejoane’s vision goes beyond football, aiming to build confident, well-rounded individuals.

“It’s vital to support these young boys, with the community’s help,” she explains.
Looking ahead, TenPont United FC sets its sights on the Champ of Champs final playoffs against Mosa FC, with their U/17 team representing Bloemfontein this Saturday at the Mangaung Outdoor Sport Centre. The participating teams include Kobi FC (top of the log), Mosa FC (second), and TenPont United FC (third). Kick-off is at 11:30am.
