Community leader Sello Moroane has passed away

The community of Botshabelo in the Free State is mourning the death of its beloved community leader Sello “Zille” Moroane.

Sello was shot on Wednesday 4 September at his home in U-Section in Botshabelo. Two men aged between 24 and 43 have been arrested.

According to the Police, Sello was shot in front of his family six times.

On Wednesday 4 September, at about 02:30, police received a complaint of a shooting incident at U-Section in Botshabelo. On arrival at the scene, they found a man lying on the floor in a pool of blood with six gunshot wounds on his stomach and both hands. He was identified as Sello Moroane.

Sello’s wife told the police that, she and her husband were sleeping when the door was kicked open, and four men entered the house, shot at her husband, and ran away thereafter.

The reason for the shooting is still unknown according to the Police. Two of the suspects are still on the run. Sello was rushed to the hospital for treatment and sadly lost his life.

He has been described as dedicated, selfless, and a man who loved Botshabelo and dedicated his life to fighting crime and ensuring the is peace in U-Section.

Members of the Botshabelo community continue to send their condolences to his family and praise his impact on the community.
