At the recent GBVF Awareness Campaign and Candlelight Vigil hosted by Buang Banna in Botshabelo, Free State MEC for Social Development Mathabo Leeto highlighted the event’s importance as a preparation for the upcoming 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
“An event like this is both a test and a vital step in preparing for the activism we need to continue,” Leeto remarked.
This year, the Premier of Free State has advised all departments to extend support for gender-based violence activism beyond the usual 16 days, encouraging ongoing commitment to address these issues year-round.
This expanded focus aims to protect women, children, and all vulnerable groups continuously, reflecting the government’s dedication to creating a safer society.
The province’s strengthened commitment to this cause underscores the essential role of government and communities in standing united against gender-based violence and ensuring lasting change.
