Dancing in South Africa is not just a form of entertainment; it’s a culture, a lifestyle, and a unique method of expression. The Rea 2 Cool Dance Crew aims to keep young people engaged in positive and active pursuits.

The group was founded by 19-year-old Realeboga “Rea” Mrwebi from Thaba Nchu, who discovered her passion for dance at the tender age of five. Although she grew up dancing, she began to take it more seriously in 2017, starting as a part-time dancer.

Now, Realeboga dances full-time and has adopted ten children, aged between 5 and 9, from Thaba Nchu, whom she mentors in various trending dance styles. Rea 2 Cool has six permanent members, aged between 12 and 16, and they occasionally include the younger dancers in their performances to give them valuable stage experience.

According to Realeboga, the group initially struggled to find a rehearsal space and decided to use her grandmother’s backyard. They meet three times a week to rehearse and create new dance moves and routines.

The group keeps its members busy by performing at local events in and around Thaba Nchu. When they’re not focusing on their studies, they dedicate time to dance, which helps them stay disciplined and away from social issues.

“The hard work and determination of my team inspire me. They put their all into every rehearsal,” Realeboga stated.

The group frequently performs at book launches, birthday celebrations, talent search competitions, and festivals.
