Moipone Mokake is a passionate presenter at One Free State Televisual (1FSTV), dedicated to delivering news in her mother tongue, Sesotho.
Her skill and enthusiasm have led many to see her as a Sesotho Ambassador. As a Sesotho News Anchor, she embraces her talkative nature and enjoys being heard, finding the media field to be a perfect outlet for her voice without judgment.
Her journey into broadcasting began when a suggestion during a makeup artist interview led her to explore her potential in media. After recording a voice note for an online radio station, she quickly transitioned into the broadcasting world and eventually secured a position at 1FS TV.
In her role as a News Anchor, News Compiler, Researcher, and Presenter for the show Botjhaba Ba Rona, which highlights tradition and culture, Moipone finds immense joy in educating and informing others about current affairs and diverse cultural practices.
She loves interacting with people, considering it a fulfilling part of her work. In her leisure time, Moipone immerses herself in reading Sesotho literature. She acknowledges the complexities of language in her profession, sharing that the language used in casual settings differs significantly from that in her work environment.
“Language seems to be the most challenging thing I come across, the language that we speak when we are amongst our friends, is totally different to what we speak at work, most of the time I come across as if I am a Sesotho ambassador, whereas I’m simply looking out for our people through language and traditional practices.” Moipone stated.
She strives to advocate for her community through her understanding of language and cultural traditions. Moipone looks up to figures like Mantsheuwa Mofokeng from Lesedi FM and SABC 2’s Mami Majola for inspiration.
