Jane Mpholo, from Botshabelo in the Free State, has been named as a finalist for the highly regarded African Women’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) Awards. She is one of three finalists in the Creative Industry Award category, a recognition for her contributions as a founder and leader in the arts.
As the founder and CEO of Jane Mpholo Pty Ltd, a theatre, film, and site-specific art company based in the Free State, Jane continues to make waves in the creative sector. She uses art as a powerful tool for raising awareness, provoking conversations, and driving change, especially around social justice issues.

This achievement comes in what has been an exceptional year of recognition for Jane. In April 2024, she was named the Outstanding Actor in Theatre by the Department of Arts and Culture’s CCI Awards. In July, she was a finalist for the Fabulous Woman Awards, acknowledging her work in Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention.
She recently earned a nomination for the 2024 DSTV Content Creator Awards.

Reflecting on these milestones, Jane said “This year, I have been recognized for all facets of my career (art, social impact, content creation and entrepreneurship), and I couldn’t be more grateful. I am grateful to God for deeming me worthy of this glory. This is only the beginning. I am more than driven to do more.”
Voting for the DSTV Content Creator Awards is open until 26 September 2024. To vote for Jane, SMS the code “EMERGING4” to 33103. Each person can vote up to 50 times.
The winners of the AWIEF Awards will be announced in Cape Town on 29 November 2024.
