Palesa Precious Machabe, also known as Lesahfrika, is striving for greatness in the world of poetry, where her natural talent shines through.

With a pen as her trusted companion, she articulates her thoughts and experiences on paper. Although she has been a writer from a young age, it was between 2014 and 2017 that Palesa truly discovered her poetic voice.

“Poetry for me is a diary entry, not just my story but the stories I see, hear, live, and read about. Being on stage reciting gives me so much power and a sense of belonging; it’s my safe haven, the place of refuge, my home,” she shares.

Her love for poetry runs deep, and she explores various styles, including narrative, dramatic monologue, and elegy. Palesa embraces versatility in her craft, refusing to be confined to a single genre.

She frequently showcases her work at theaters and various events, drawing inspiration from respected figures like Ntate Kgotso Nkhatho and Lebo Mashile.

However, like many artists, Palesa faces challenges, ranging from financial issues to navigating trust within the industry, as well as grappling with feelings of inadequacy when she doesn’t meet her personal benchmarks.

Based in Botshabelo, Palesa is set to launch her own storytelling initiative, Koena Audio Stories, in March. This audio storytelling venture will cater to children, expanding her creative influence and passion for storytelling.
