RISE Mzansi Free State has called on the workers of Masilonyana Municipality to unite in their call for the removal of the incompetent Mayor, Dimakatso Modise.
The municipality has once again failed to pay workers’ salaries for the month of November, citing cash flow challenges, according to a letter sent by the Municipal Manager, Mr MJ Matlole, to all staff.
In his letter addressed to workers, Mr Matlole, states that given the cashflow challenges experienced by the municipality, workers will not receive their salaries this month,
“Kindly note that given the cash flow challenges experienced by the municipality, you are cordially advised that salaries for November 2023 will be delayed and will be payable on or before 08th December 2023”. The Municipal Manager stated in the letter to employees.
RISE Mzansi Free State Provincial Convenor Nomsa Marchesi said this is not the first time the ANC-led municipality failed to make timely payments to struggling workers. She added that Modise, as the mayor of this municipality, has failed to lead and must therefore, must be removed with immediate effect!
“Failing to pay workers their salaries on time defeats and violates the very same purpose of one being employed. In this very municipality, workers were once paid with R1000 food parcels, and the ANC failed to hold Modise to account.” Nomsa Marchesi said.
Marchesi further said the MEC of Human Settlements, Cooperative Governance, and Traditional Affairs, Ketso Makume, need to move with speed in addressing the mayhem and the mismanagement of funds taking place in the municipality.
“It is common knowledge that this municipality is among the Free State Municipalities flagged by Auditor-General, Tsakani Maluleke, during her 2021/22 report, due its failure to submit financial statements as per the requirement for auditing its audit outcome was delayed. This is unacceptable.” Marchesi reiterated.
According to the RISE Mzansi Free State Provincial Convenor, the people of Masilonyana deserve new leaders and new answers, and must therefore call for the immediate removal of the mayor.
