Silas Motse who hails from Thaba Nchu in the Free State has a fascinating practice that focuses on the art of space and time. His passion was birthed when he was still a cartoonist while at primary school and grew over the years, leading him to pursue a career in fine arts.

The talented fine artist has partnered with the luxury car brand, Lamborghini. Last year, he was approached by the luxury car manufacturer to commemorate the car brand’s 60th anniversary.

Motse was tasked with giving an African perspective on Lamborghini’s legacy. Renowned for his unique geometric patterns and Afrocentric, Afrofuturist style, Motse delivered exceptionally well what was required from him and continues to get praise for his work.

“Honestly, I used to love Lamborghini growing up as a child, this came as a big achievement  to be able to write history as a South African Afrofuturistic artist.” Said Silas Motse.

He is inspired by everyday life to bring healing to people through his artwork, despite showcasing and exhibiting his work locally and internationally, the Thaba Nchu-born artist remains humble and has never forgotten his roots.

Well-known and talented cartoonist Jonathan Shapiro known by his pen name Zapiro, was one of the people who unveiled Motse’s 8-mural story in Johannesburg. Motse grew up idolizing Zapiro as a child.
