Hard work, dedication, and passion continue to be the pillars for talented, award-winning Motheo FM Gospel show presenter, Jabu Ntuli.
He recently won his second Free State Gospel Music Award for Best Gospel Show, solidifying his status as a leading voice in the gospel music community.
Known for his deep-rooted passion for Setswana and his infectious smiles, Jabu Ntuli is continuously reaching new heights and accumulating accolades along the way.
In an interview with Free State World, Jabu expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he received from his community. “People voting for me made me feel loved and special. I was humbled,” he shared.
Despite his two wins, Jabu felt uncertain about his chances this year due to the strong contenders he was up against, which added to his nerves as the results were announced.

Jabu hosts “Fika La Phodiso” (The Rock of Healing), a gospel show designed to spread the Word of God by inviting various pastors to share their teachings. The show also addresses pressing community issues, stemming from the notion that the church should play a more active role in local matters.
“We discuss topics such as marriages, families, financial literacy, and relationships in general, as well as legal issues like the importance of having wills,” Ntuli explained.
Even though winning the award is still fresh in his mind, he views it as motivation to strive for more rather than resting on his laurels. His success has taught him to value his work and inspired him to aim higher for the sake of his listeners.
Jabu has been involved with community radio for 15 years. He first served Motheo FM from 2010 until November 2016 and returned in 2020 at the invitation of both the current Station Manager, Lebogang Matolong, and Programs Manager, Mohau Rampeta, to continue his contributions on Sundays.

“Our show is structured in four segments. First, we discuss a topic for the day. I often engage my guests before the show to identify the key aspects we should cover. I also make time to research the topic thoroughly to ensure I’m well-informed during the interview, which helps me formulate relevant questions,” Ntuli explained.
“Fika la Phodiso” gives Jabu the chance to connect with listeners. “I’ve always dreamt of being a radio personality, and I don’t want to waste this incredible opportunity. The way our guests and listeners engage with me keeps my passion for radio alive, even on days when I might not feel like going to the studio. Remembering that Motheo FM listeners are waiting for me motivates me to push through my personal challenges.”
Jabu’s advice to aspiring radio presenters: “Serve a purpose on your show each day, then go home. Define your existence not just at the station but in the lives of your listeners. Talent without character can lead to downfall. It’s great to build a personal brand, but never let fame make you think you’re bigger than the institution that gave you this opportunity—one that many aspire to have. Respect your craft and those you serve,” he concluded.
