MANDELA DAY

In a heartfelt commemoration of Mandela Month, former Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela visited Thaba-Nchu today to support families affected by gender-based violence (GBV). At the Thaba-Nchu GBV Center, Ntombela unveiled a giant chess set for the youth and distributed food parcels to elders, particularly those from families impacted by GBV.

Ntombela expressed her deep concern over the escalating cases of violence against women in the Free State. She urged the Thaba-Nchu community to take proactive measures in maintaining and supporting the GBV center.

“As we commemorate Mandela Day, let us not just reflect on his legacy, but actively work to continue it,” Ntombela said. “Let each of us commit to making a positive change in our community, no matter how small it may seem. Remember, it is in our hands to create a better world. Despite our challenges, we have the power to shape our future. Let us draw strength from Madiba’s resilience, his forgiveness, and his unwavering belief in the potential of every human being.”

Ntombela also emphasized the collective effort needed to address unemployment and improve support and education for the youth. “Together, we can turn the tide on unemployment. Together, we can provide better support and education for our youth. Together, we can build a community that Madiba would be proud of,”
