Foreign national nabbed with R2.5million suspected stolen electronics in Bloemfontein

The Parkweg Police in Bloemfontein continues to act tough on crime and upholding the law. The Parkweg Intervention Unit recovered a significant quantity of suspected stolen cellphones, tablets, and laptops, and arrested a foreign national in Bloemfontein with suspected stolen electronics worth R2.5million.

Acting on intelligence, the Parkweg Police went to a block of flats in Alexandra Road, Bloemfontein where upon arrival, they found a 39-year-old foreign national who initially denied them entry to his flat. After persuading the suspect to grant access, the police discovered ten large bags containing various brands of cellphones, tablets, and laptops.

Preliminary investigations indicated that a total of 554 cellphone were found, with an estimated value of R2.5 million. Police investigations revealed that the consignment of suspected stolen electronics was intended to be transported out of Bloemfontein.

The 39-year-old is a cellphone shop owner, he is scheduled to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on 22 April 2025 facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property.

The Parkweg police are urging all victims of robberies who have not yet reported their cases to come forward with proof of ownership to claim their stolen cellphones.

The Police are currently searching for four additional foreign nationals believed to be connected to the arrested suspect.
